Dr. Lawson Wulsin writes clearly and empathetically about the links among depression and heart disease. His appendices, footnotes, resources and references are added bonuses in the search for answers to depression and its links to heart disease. If a single had been to read chapters 5 and six alone, a single would obtain a physiological expertise of depression: its biology and its relation to the functions of the brain and the heart. Dr. Wulsin has been careful to build charts and figures that are accessible. The book is readable, however informative, and the movement from overviews to specifics is seamless.
Dr. Wulsin's recommendations for change include integrating mental health services into primary care practices, and establishing recommendations for screening for depression in patients at threat for coronary illness. Yet another of Dr. Wulsin's suggestions for alter is the formation of campaigns to educate the public about heart disease and depression. His book is an superb addition to such education.
This book reads like a song and is packed with useful specifics. The author's conversational writing style and individual openness make it a pretty engaging way to understand a lot of hard medical facts.
